press release: Judge Grasso Files Over 10k “Public Safety” Signatures

Judge George Grasso’s campaign for Queens District Attorney filed more than 10,000 signatures today from Queens residents to appear on the General Election ballot in November - more than double the number that is needed. These signatures were for his independent “Public Safety” line, which highlights Judge Grasso’s bi-partisan, public safety-centered approach to his campaign. Combining these signatures with those previously filed for the Democratic line, Judge Grasso’s campaign has now filed approximately 20,000 signatures for Queens District Attorney, a show of overwhelming support for his candidacy.

“I am grateful for the support of voters across Queens who have signed my petitions for the Public Safety line,” said Judge George Grasso. “Every day of the petitioning period, I was out in the field talking to voters. It is apparent to me that Queens residents know what I know: that crime in their communities is spiking and the incumbent District Attorney is failing to keep them as safe as they are entitled to be.

“The Public Safety line directly confronts the notion that the District Attorney should be a partisan position. The District Attorney’s job is that of the chief law enforcement officer of the county. No matter what party Queens voters identify with, they all deserve to be safe. Despite my opponent’s apparent frustration over my broad bi-partisan support, I will continue to speak to all Queens voters, because public safety is a right, not a privilege.

“Democrats, Republicans, and Independents across Queens have signed my petitions, pledged to vote for me, and donated to my campaign. Their faith in my experience and platform continues to fuel me in my campaign against an entrenched career-politician incumbent.”

Judge Grasso was most recently the Administrative Judge of Queens Supreme Court, Criminal Term. He stepped down from the bench on August 31, 2022, with over two years remaining on his term, to run for Queens District Attorney.
